Unit 29: Writing from Parchman Prison is a collection of writings from over 30 Mississippi inmates housed in the infamously brutal Unit 29 at Mississippi State Penitentiary, better known as Parchman Farm. The book is not a comfortable literary work, but rather a cry for help from deep within a monstrous and insatiable beast known as Unit 29, Parchman.

The White Trash Pantheon: Hold on tight when we go down through Babson’s comic excavations as she dredges up her White Trash Pantheon with mock heroic characters. Babson eviscerates the Deep South deeply for its foibles and fun. These edgy, hilarious poems made me toe-tap with delight. And don’t miss Bubba-Apollo-Joe in this thoroughly unexpurgated romp! Peter Cooley, Senior Mellon Professor of the Humanities, Director, Creative Writing, Tulane University.
